Tip: When you are cleaning the car, often-missed spots include the door jams and the sunroof. These are the surfaces that the seals rest against, so make sure to clean them. It also shows that extra attention to detail and since they're not exposed very often, you do not have to clean them as often. Use water to wipe any dirt off the weatherstripping, as well.
I just opened my sunroof and found the seal mating surface to be absolutely filthy. I cleaned the mating surface and the weatherstripping with water on a microfiber towel and applied 303 aerospace to the sunroof seal after. It may be the placebo effect, but I find that it is slightly quieter with the shade open
