Default UPDATED-Stock rim new lugs concern - plasti dipped lugs (pics)

Hi all! Long time lurker, first time posting. My 07 rims were getting corroded so I'm having them media blasted and powder coated. Changing from the stock silver to black. I have a concern regarding the new lug nuts I purchased (black) to match the rims. The stock lugs have a lip and washer that contacts the rim while the new lugs do not. I've attached pics of both lugs. Should I be concerned about this difference? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Yes- I actually ran into the same problem when I bought some steel rims off of craigs list a month ago when I also was having my rims powder coated.

The nuts to the right are acorn style. That's what I had to buy to make the steelies fit my ES. The OEM rim requires the flat style that you have to the left with the washer attached. Definitely don't put the new ones you bought on there.

Powder coating is pretty sweet btw. My rims look brand new for just under $500.

Thanks for the quick response. I had a bad feeling this was the case. Not sure I'll find black lugs in that style but I'll try. I'm excited to see the redone rims, hopefully with matching black lugs.

I actually bought those identical acorn style lug nuts at an auto store for $40. I was in a pinch for time and hated paying that for them.

Well I ended up using plasti dip on the stock lugs (for now) and they turned out great. Also did the center cap with plasti dip. Overall I'm really happy with the powder coated rims and it only cost $200 for the media blast and powder coating. The dipped lugs and cap also look great. The dip held up putting the lugs back on as well. Included some pics of the dipping process and the new shoes...

First coat of plasti dip.

Lugs with first coat. Used 4 coats.

Yep, ya need the ones on the left. They are Toyota specific mag style lugs. Notice the ends have an acorn style cut; on those models where the spare is a steel wheel, the lug will double as an acorn lug. These should fit but notice they lack the acorn style cut.
