Default Help with resistor installation for the airbag light in the climate control ES350

As a quick background, I bought an aftermarket china navigation unit for my father's non-navi 2007 Lexus ES350 as a gift, as he really wanted a built in navi system. I thought I could solve all the problems that were common with these units, and the only one that I could not solve is the airbag light issue. I've used techstream to reset this passenger airbag error, but it seems that because there is no passenger airbag light, the error is permanent, until the relay can be completed.

I know this is an old issue, but I'm hoping that someone knowledgeable and has experience can help me with this please! I've scanned all the old forums multiple times and have had trouble finding something regarding this. I know FlyAudio came up with a replacement wire harness, and I've looked everywhere and even contacted their China location, but cannot buy this anywhere!

So after speaking with the manufacturer, they mentioned that the airbag light (normally on the climate control unit) is not on this aftermarket navi unit. To fix this, they said I would need to add resistance or a "bulb" to the wire which supports the " passenger airbag light".

Since this is a China manufacturer, I really don't have the option of returning this. Also I wouldn't want the conscience of something happening to my dad and the airbags not working...

Would anyone have knowledge for the following questions:

1. Which wire is the one that triggers the airbag light, where I am to add the resistor/light bulb to?

2. Would anyone know the size of the resistor? Is it 2.1 ohms 1/4 watt 5% tolerance?

I would forever be in debt for any assistance please. Thank you very much in advance.

Dear nevernu,

Thank you very much!!! This is exactly what was needed!

A few questions perhaps you or someone can help answer given a novice like myself - it seems that the passenger dash airbag light is show on page 3 of the attachment (upper left side) under E3 A/C Control Assembly. The plug looks like "E3 White" on page 6.

1. Does this mean that the airbag lights are controlled by the 5 (black cable) and 4 (red cable) as stated by the E3 plug numbering on page 6?

2. To complete the "SRS circuit", do I add a resistor connecting the black and red cable together?

3. Also would anyone have an idea of what size resistor this may be?

I'm sure a lot of folks who bought the aftermarket navigation units without the updated wire harness for their non-navi ES350s would come across this problem. Any guidance would be much appreciated, and happy to provide a follow up in detail for the other folks with a similar issue.

Many many thanks again!

Any chance would anyone have the wire diagram for the all the wires on the wire harness that goes into the AC controller assembly for a non-navi 07 ES350 please?

Many thanks

Nevernu - your contribution is invaluable, thank you so much!

I'm not sure if you or someone may have this, but I'm still trying to figure out what the remaining wires are on the wire harness that goes in the back of the wire harness, that connects to the non-navi A/C Controller Assembly. It is a E3 plug (18 pin holes), and I still don't know the following wire colors - brown, solid white, pink, purple, and green.

Anyone might have a clue on this please?

Many many thanks!
