Good job! Sometimes y'gotta just take the bull by the horns and make things happen.
I'm with you as far as declining over-priced dealer service. Even a Toyota dealer charges less for the same thing.
Happy miles ahead!

Amen brother!
I don't think that the families of the 11 people that have died would agree. If it wasn't a risk, then why is there a recall. I would never forgive myself if something happened to her. As an adult, I can make the decision to do risky things but as a parent, I have to mitigate as many risks as possible for my child. I would never tell her to not wear a seat belt cause driving is just inherently dangerous. Maybe she should never drive and I should keep her at home her entire life. No that is ridiculous and for consumers to want safe cars and products is normal. There is no reason the Lexus should not have a remedy for the ES by now. I am not saying that they should have all the cars fixed, but I am saying that they should have a remedy by now. This is not about statistics and risks. There are no amount of statistics and risk analysis that are going to make those injured and the families of those that died feel better. This is all about having a safe product and the total lack of adequate response from Lexus.

Lexus Putnam had the part earlier but their queue was very long so I decided to go with Lexus of Stevens Creek any way.

I assume not but availability of parts will become more of an issue. If you understand the back order problem of takata then you'll see why it is taking so long to get these cars repaired. So have you moved your love one to the back seat yet.

How stupid I was! Been watching this thread and wondering why I hadn't received anything from Lexus on this recall. Then I finally wised up and went to the NHTSA website and found out my vehicle isn't even a part of this recall. Go figure!

I received my letter in mid-May and had my 2008 ES 350 airbag replaced at the dealer in early June. My notification letter recommended that in the interim period before the airbag was replaced that I not permit passengers to ride in the front passenger seat. The replacement was a 6.5 hour job at the Lexus dealer, so they allowed me to use a loaner vehicle. They washed, vacuumed and filled my gas tank.
