Hard Brake Pedal 2012 ES350
So now this has happened a couple of days in a row. When I get in the car in the morning, the brake pedal is hard as a rock, no movement. As soon as I start the car, it depresses and feels normal throughout driving. If I start the car soon after turning it off it feels normal. It seems to be after a long (~8 hours) period of non-use.
I didn't know if there were any electronic actuators to adjust pedal travel or is it vacuum?
Any ideas?
Jim

I'm in a cold weather region (too) and often when it gets wet then drops to -15C or worse, the brake pedal is frozen hard after sitting overnight but after starting the car things go to normal. Don't know if the calipers stick/freeze overnight and require engine on/hydraulic assist to break free. This has happened on all my cars for the last 50 years
The thing to remember is not to jump in the car, start it and throw it into reverse; wait until you you actually have brake pressure before u put it in reverse. DAMHIK

Thanks for the reply.
The car resumes normal pressure immediately after starting. I have had the car for 18 months now and this has just started happening. It is not unusually cold here (Long Island).
I am going to check for any kind of vacuum hose issues, take a look at the booster as stated in another thread.

Usually caused by lack of vacuum in the brake booster. This can either be a vacuum brake hose or a bad check valve in the brake hose/booster. The worse case would be a bad brake booster.

New brake booster (44610-33791) and gasket (44785-07010). Covered under warranty, but the bill would have been $1050. $700 for parts and $350 labor.
