^I'm with drgrant, the extended warranty on our LX470 easily paid itself over 3 times, as it did on my dad's mercedes. . A navigation going out on these cars, which isn't an unheard issue, is nearly twice the cost of most warranties. It really depends on the car, but I wouldn't rule them out completely.

Except they are in the business of making money, in most cases people never get full benefits of their warranty. Otherwise they would be lousing money and they are in business of making money. I went through 3 new cars, kept them 10 years, in all the cases major problems happened only after 100k/7year, and those minor problems would never justly big price tag for the warranty. Sure, maybe with next car I will be at loss, but guess what, in the long run consumer wins by skipping on extended warranties.

I mean there are tons of posts on here about how extended warranties ended up paying themselves off more than once, but OK.
