now the bummer
The other day I was about a block from home I got caught in a bad hail storm. Within 10 seconds I was getting hammered by gokf ball sized bombs.
They took out my wind shield within the first 10 seconds and there was nothing I could do. So what was a totally pristine 9 year old car is a rolling dent mobile.
I don't like the idea of dealing with the insurance, I don't know how they going to deal with me yet, but needless to say I'm bummed out about it. Some dents might be PDR'd but I think they're going to need to replace sheet metal like the hood, the roof and the trunk lid and a new paint job. There is no way I'm going to settle for any bondo on my baby.
I'll let ya all know it turns out.

Hail storms are hell!!!
A similar thing happened to one of our cars several years ago. The insurance company wanted to total the car but we protested and got them to agree to settle with us for the cost of repairs. Of course, not all insurance companies are the same. We are with USAA (for military members and their families) and had been with them for about 30 years at the time. Fast forward -- we got the repairs done and kept the car for several years after that. I hope you can work things out with your insurance company so you can get the repairs done and have your car restored to her "pristine" condition.
