Default Door handle cover?

I know this has been asked before but not answered so here goes again.

what is the magic in replacing the door handle lock cover? Had to take mine off due to a dead battery and have not been able to replace it properly. The top of the cover fits back on properly but the bottom will not fit snugly and will fall off if I drive it. Thanks

You kind of have to snap (force) it in at the bottom but if that doesn't work try lining up the bottom first. then snapping it up into place at the top;

Finally decided to use a rubber mallet on it and that worked. Was only worried about the bottom portion of it and tapping along the bottom with the mallet solved the problem. Thanks

Works best if you "hang" it from the top and press very firmly in on the bottom.
That is the opposite direction from the force that popped it off, key tip in the slot and pull.

Exactly what I did but the bottom still wouldn't go in. There is a nub at the top that would probably prevent you from going bottom to top. You have to hang the top first and in my case, tap the bottom to get it to stay in.

Having the same problem. Impossible to line up on the bottom first so hung it from the top and then hammered it with the side of my fist. It held for a couple of weeks including a car wash. Fell off today though when I closed the car door. Luckily I was in my driveway when it happened and found the piece when I came home.

So this time I gently hammered it in place with an actual hammer. I used a rolled up sock to cushion it and prevent damage. I don't have a rubber mallet. Hopefully it holds this time.
