Default ES vs IS vs Gs?

Hi, I have a Lexus GX 470 that I am in the process of selling currently. I absolutely love it to death, but the gas mileage is bleeding me dry and I feel like I'm wasting money every time I hop behind the wheel. Anyway, after I sell it I am looking to get a 2007-2009 Lexus car, either an ES, IS, or GS. I'm leaning towards an ES 350 right now, but have read mixed reviews on the reliability. Keeping in mind gas mileage and that my budget is $9-10,000, which car/year would be best for me?

I know that they all handle quite differently, but I am not very picky when it comes to that; I'm much more focused on reliability and gas mileage. I'm open to any suggestions, even if they aren't the vehicles I mentioned.

Thanks in advance!

Get the ES. It has more room than the other 2, is very reliable ( based on the Camry it is front wheel drive) and you can get a newer, lower mileage ES for a lot less $ than an IS or GS. The IS is tiny inside and although the GS is nicer, it does cost more and is rear wheel or all wheel drive (same for the IS). Also the IS 250 is slow compared to the ES. The faster IS350 and GS350 use variations of the same V6 engine in the ES.

I am surprised you did not mention a 2010-2011 RX350. I guess you do not want another SUV. I did not mention the older RX because 2010 was the first year of the 3rd generation. You would not want a 2nd gen.

Thanks for the informative response! My sister actually has an RX350 and loves it. I'm most interested in a car, but I do love the RX350's, they just have slightly lower gas mileage than the Lexus sedans I'm looking at.

If reliability and gas mileage are the goal, the ES is the answer.

ES for sure! Everything Clutchless and O2SDGS said. My wife was in love with the RX but after she test drove the ES she changed her mind.

ES is cheaper, more reliable, more room and cheaper to run.

But generally I think, Lexus/Toyota has been reliable with less trouble... My Dad's 1996 Camry is still running fine and racing

In terms of the gas mileage ES leads the pack, then IS, then GS. Reliability wise ES is again in front of the pack. You won't be disappointed regardless of the choice though

you can pick up some higher mile 2010-2011 es models that are selling at Lexus Dealerships in Dealership Conditions if it wasn't for the miles and years they could be certified in there conditions for under 10k i was just looking a few days ago.

Funny that you say that, when I was shopping for the ES, it was cheaper than same year Camry SE V6

If we compare ES vs. Camry, ES is from another world.

Igzy- I saw this first hand last month when shopping for a car and couldn't believe my eyes of the prices of Camry higher than ES's from 1997-2016. Private parties and dealer had the prices jacked up.
