If the extra key fob has had a dead battery or battery has been removed for an extended period of time, will it function correctly with a new battery or does it need to be reprogrammed? If so what is the std procedure to do it yourself? Please advise. Thank you,

NO reprogramming is required. I take the battery out of my "spare" FOB because I hide it in a safe place and usually don't use it for long periods of time (if ever) and because if the battery is left in the FOB and if the battery were to swell up and leak the FOB could be rendered junk. I place my spare FOBs in a small sandwhich bag and tape the battery(s) to the outside of the bag.

Thanks Grump! I keep the separated metal key blade in my wallet to be able to get in the car in the event I lose my fob, like a couple at the grocery store did last year and lady with her RX at the jogging trail the other day! So if I wanted to stash it away in my car with the battery removed but in the same packet, all I would have to do is insert the battery and be good to go... Thanks again!
