My car is about to hit 110k and I can hear one of my rear struts going out, so I’ve been doing research to find struts to install. I came up with these part numbers. (KYB strut assemblys from RockAuto). I’m wondering if anybody has used these when replacing their struts, and if not what did you use? Thanks!
-Front Right - KYB SR4400 $116
- Front Left - KYB SR4401 $116
- Rear Right - KYB SR4402 $114
- Rear Left - KYB SR4403 $115

Just to add my useless 2 cents, as well, it's recommended to replace in pairs. I replaced my rear struts with an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) for about $270 for each, but I purchased at an online Lexus (My Lexus Parts) discount site and installed it my self. I also replaced the strut mount ($140 each), which includes the dust boot/cover (that black bellows looking thing that covers the coil) and the coil seat.

how bad were you original ones? Did you notice any difference before and after?

The ride was much improved, with less "jounce/rebound" and a smoother ride, as one should expect. One was leaking, so it was shot. I suspect the other "better side" was pretty ok, but I felt it a better idea to replace both at the same time. BTW, if your dust/boot covers are ok, there should be no need to replace (I think).

I need to replace the rear ones, one is leaking a bit. I'm afraid to go with aftermarket ones because I would like to keep the smoothness I have now.

On an older vehicle, it is best to replace the struts in pairs in order to maintain the best ride quality and handling.

How dangerous is it to drive with a rear leaking strut? My mechanic said the worst case is if I hit a bump in the rear it could push the strut through the bottom of the car. The car is a 2003 and SC430.
I’ve read on this form that if one is leaking it’s best to do them both. Any insight on this matter I am not a mechanic nor am I even Handy 😩

You can drive it like that 100000 miles, but it will start to make knocking noises.

I'd like to hold out until the other one goes bad. My mechanic said hitting a major pothole on the tire with the leaking strut could push a hole through the bottom of the car.
Is this like 1%, 50% or 99%? I need to make a 250 mile r/t trip to Lancaster PA and I don't want to take any chances. Thanks!

got an update from KYB. I asked 2 questions.I show them in the prototype phase, so we are planning for them to become available later this year to early next year. (full assembly)
Yes, the components are typically the same whether purchased as an assembly or separately. So you would get the same quality either way. (what is actually on the full assembly)
For the front we carry the following parts:
SB102 – Strut Bellows
SM5637 – Strut Mount Kit
339024 – Strut, Left
339023 – Strut, Right
SM5649 – Coil Spring Insulator, Lower
SM5485 – Coil Spring Seat, Upper
