Default Noise from rear of ES350

I'm going to have them check the sway bar bushings and the trailing arms. Thanks for all of the input. I'll let you know what we find.

Shrink,
Removing the sway bar did not stop the noise correct?

Kinda of a pain (remove rear seat and package tray) but another cause is the upper strut mounting plate that the strut bolts to is loose or wore out, wiggling as it supports the shock rod. Three bolts per mount to check to see if it's tight.

Did your mechanic replace the top "strut mount" or just do a bare strut reusing the existing strut mount? . See the difference in the attached link. If you have a new spring behind your rear tire, you got a new assembly which includes the strut mount plate.
Look on your bill for part numbers to google up to see what all you got?

I had the same issue. Changing Sway-bar bushing resolved it. Then i did the struts because car was starting to feel boaty. Mechanic installed quit struts in the car, from start it didn't feel right, then started to hear knocking when doing over bumps and it would be worse in cold. Got better as it got warmer out or drove for longer period. Ended up changing whole rear suspension as i though no way Strut mounts could be bad after less than year. Well guess what, changed all the struts with KYBs and used as much OEM stuff as i could, deff use OEM springs. Ride is so much better and feels like new.
