I found this very clean 2008 Lexus ES 350 with 176k miles for $6,000, but I'm not sure if I want to buy it because I'm 17 and this will be my first car. I'm looking for a reliable first car in my price range of around $5-$7k and this car was one of the only cars in my area (Lehigh Valley, PA) that is clean and reliable. The CarFax shows that it has only had general maintenance done to it so no major issues with the car like transmission failure. The car also looks very clean and has no scratches or damage anywhere on the car. The dealer has also put on new breaks, tires, and changed the oil and filter which is also a plus.
For the negatives, the big issue is that the sensor for the engine oil is broken so the car has a light that says "low engine oil" and I'm not sure if that can pass inspection. The dealership salesman said that fixing that sensor would cost around $1,500. It also has 176k miles so I'm hoping to get to at least 225k, bit I might be off on my hope. The steering wheel on the car also feels a lot looser than other cars I've driven, but I'm not sure if that was how the car was made or if its due to the car being used for the past 10 years. If it is due to wear and tear then is it something that can be fixed?
I'm not sure if this is a good first car, so far I love driving and when I test drove the car I really liked it. I'm just not sure if this car would cost a lot in repairs or is even a good first car or if another car would be better. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

The oil level sensor cannot be more than $100. I think that car is not for you, I would rather get a Honda Civic because in the future a luxury car with all those miles can be trouble. It is true that this car is one of the best luxury cars out there but still you never know

Don't know about PA but in NY if you had a light on the dealers could not pass or sell the car without it being fixed. If you want the car tell the dealer you want them to fix the car and pass state inspection before you will buy it. If he says no then pass and look for something else.
