Hey yall I found a 07 Lexus es350 with 56k miles on it looks good from the pics. I am gona drive it on fri and see if it rides smooth. Anything in particular I should be checking for in that model yr? I original was looking at a 2012 maxima with 48k miles on it and seen that they have that Lexus on the lot too. Still gona look at maxima but that lexus does look good and priced better.

07’s have a few quirks that were worked out in later versions. Check out the condition of the dash, there was a tsb for this that has since expired so maybe it was already replaced. Basically the dash starts to melt getting really sticky and starts to crack when exposed to heat. There was a recall for the gas pedal way back when, for the passengers side airbag, and a oil pressure line. These were all a while ago so they might have been done already. The passenger side window the clips break and makes a humming noise when going up before it completely breaks. The timing belt cover wasn’t properly sealed so it develops a seep not a leak. The steering wheel audio buttons peel eventually. Interior lighting sucks with orange Leds or small tiny Leds even though most can be easily upgraded.

It’s a great car I had an 07 with over 100K and it felt like a new car. With that mileage that’s a good find if it’s in good shape. The 2010 mid cycle update fixed allot of the little annoyance with the car but my 07 for a 12 year old was rock solid and had a crazy amount of technology features for its age.

Even though 56K miles is very low for an 07, I'd want to find out if it was driven daily over short trips, or if it sat long periods of time. Short daily mileage can very bad; the engine doesn't have time to heat up and burn off condensation in the engine; this could lead to carbon buildup and advance engine wear due to the motor oil being diluted with gas and/or water. Have a mechanic do a compression test and check the cylinder walls with an endoscopic camera. If it sat over long periods of time, the engine could develop leaks due to hardening of seals, especially if parked outside through extreme weather conditions. Hopefully, it was parked indoors and periodically driven over twenty miles at a time.

Would this have been fixed under warranty on these cars? Or could it show up later out of warranty and...not fixed? Does it make the car un-driveable?
I've been looking through a lot of service histories on the Lex Driver site and I've seen what I assume was it on some cars.

The car is driveable and you can notice it only when the car is cold.
Some cars were fixed under warranty, some are not.

I have an '07 sitting at 158k miles. It's a great, solid car once you get the already mentioned kinks fixed. I've had mine for a couple years now and haven't had to do much to it besides oil changes which run me $20. My front passenger window did have the clips break... You have to buy a whole new piece of glass for that since the clips are fused to the glass. I found a used window so It wasn't outrageously expensive.
Paid $7,500 for it a couple years ago at 145,000 miles.
