I believe the OEM sub is limited to 30 in the head unit, i.e. as the volume goes above 30 it will throttle the sub at 30 whereas other speaker will go to whatever level you set in the head unit.
A few options:
1) you can just go and buy a used ES sub
2) install any aftermarket sub of same diameter
3) install a 1-channel amp and any sub and have the bass go to whatever level the speakers go to

Is the Sub blown as in the coils are toast, or is it that the rubber/foam mount at the edge of the speaker has torn and the speaker sounds awful. If it's the rubber that's gone bad, you can remove the original rubber, and replace it.
Easy job, and will only cost you $10-$15 for the foam and the vaguely specialized glue.
Look on YouTube for how to do it, and eBay for the foam.

Had it happen on my first Avalon, fix worked for 3-4 years, then sold the car.
