Default Normal Engine operating temperature

Hi everyone!
I have a 2007 ES350 with 134k miles. I noticed that when I opened the hood, the engine seems unusually hot. The temp gauge reads around the middle with a short 3 miles trip on the side streets. The temp out side is 64°F. Is this normal? Does anyone know the normal operating temperature? I plugged in my scangauge II and it showed that it was 191°F. I recently did a thermostat change and coolant flush (around 2,000 miles again). Coolant is at the right level.

Temp sounds about right to me. If the scangauge is 190ish and the actual temp gauge is sitting in the middle, it would seem ok. The gauge has a bit of a buffer anyway. forget the range. Can you imagine how many folks would visit the dealer to complain or wonder why the car was 180, 210, 190, 220, 175 on different days of the week? or different minutes of their commute? Average consumer doesn't need that information.

Ours averages 195. I got rid of those engine plastic covers. I’ve always felt they trap engine heat.
