Default Auto Wipers and Intermittent Wipers Don't Work

I have a 2007 ES. I have owed it for over a year now and love the car. It is equipped with auto/rain sensing wipers and they have never worked as long as I've owned the car. I would actually prefer normal intermittent wipers anyways and have read in a few places you can just unplug the sensor and intermittent will work in the auto position. I tried unplugging my sensor but the wipers never move when in the auto position with the sensitivity switch in any position. My wipers work when I bump the stalk up and in the lower two settings (fast/really fast).

Any ideas or suggestions would greatly appreciated. Again, I don't really care for rain sensing but would love regular intermittent.

Thanks!
