Default Replacing the sub with components and adding a sub to the trunk?

Has anyone tried this? I was thinking of having a separate sub with its custom housing added into the trunk while replacing the current sub with a component or 2way (or way) speaker. I know little of stereos but the current setup is pointless and its always better to have a sub with a custom housing in the trunk correct ?

Their web page will advise what little is possible, if anything. It makes a huge difference if you have Nav or not.
