Default Soundproofing advice

Hello all,
I tried a search on this topic, but no luck. Perhaps someone can assist?

I would like to add some sound proofing to my 2012 ES350 specifically to deal with tire noise/hum. Overall, it is not bad, but I am just a bit picky about that topic and want to make my ES as quiet as I can.
Just installed a new set of tires which helped a bit (helped smooth out the ride a lot).

I was thinking of adding sound material over the four wheel wheels to start and go from there.

Any experience would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

To make any beneficial improvement would mean removing the bulk of your vehicles interior and adding an aftermarket padding like Dynomat, to the existing sound deadening materials. One issue adding anything "above the wheels", ie, in the wheel wells, is that the material can trap moisture and promote rust. Tires were likely your best bet to quiet the ride. Turning up the radio works too

As Racerd said, changing your tires for new ones that have been rated/reviewed as being quieter will make the most difference. www.tirerack.com is a great place for tire reviews.

You can use a product like https://www.summitracing.com/parts/l...YaAhfpEALw_wcB
Lizardskin (and similar products) which is a paint like sound deadening material inside your wheel wells after you remove the fiber like wheel well liner. It is held on with screws and clips and you need to be careful painting it on to cover your brakes and not paint over the screws and other attachment points. You will need several coats to build up enough thickness to help.
I have done this on both my RX350 and HS250h. It does help reduce tire noise, but is time-consuming to do this project. Your vehicle will be out of commission for a few days.
Note it says spray on, but I used a brush.

Look at post 48 in this link https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...this-rx-4.html

Although it isn’t above the wheels, I’ve read that adding some material inside the doors helps a lot with noise. I’ve always been afraid to dig into it though.

As mentioned earlier, front wheel wells. I add a thick adhesive material to the splash pan area and a flexible foam on the back of the fender well liner. Inside, I pull pack the front carpet and layer it in the foot well.
