The Philips Xtreme vision and Osram Night Breaker will be brighter than the stock bulbs.

Default Replacement bulbs

I get all my bulbs from https://www.hidconcept.com/collections/d4s usually, really good pricing. I've tried the Osram Night Breaker Laser and the color was like OE around 4300K but much brighter I ended up just using Osram Cool Blue Advance its more like 5000K. I think because the factory projector lenses are frosted it alters the output. The brightness is similar but I want say NBL throws a little more than the CBA. I do want to try the Philips Xtreme Vision but I want clear lens swap my projectors first.

Don't they make an entire housing by this point?

No. You just replace the bulbs on modern vehicles. The headlight housing only needs replacement after an accident or if heavily oxidized-clouded up beyond restoration. A new housing would be hundreds of dollars and you would still need a new bulb separate from the housing.
They are not one unit that is sealed and sold together. That stopped when sealed beam headlights stopped being used about 3 decades ago.

Sorry, subject always throws me off. So the ones you recommend are "plug and play"?

Yes, same physical shape bulb, they just have different internals that make them brighter. Search for instructions on how to change the bulbs yourself.
