Default 2012 ES350 Transmission flare between 2nd-3rd gear

Hello!
I have a 2012 ES 350 with 122k miles on it, and recently (around 121k), I have noticed a transmission flare between 2nd-3rd gear regardless of ambient temperature or running time. It is most prevalent on rpm levels less than 3k rpm, but anything higher, it shifts fine.

I have contacted a mechanic to quote me on a transmission fluid change, and have looked at some solutions on the website regarding the 3rd-4th gear flares (running through the gears after warmup).

Any ideas?

just change the fluid in the pan. drive it for a week and change it again. repeat this process for at least 4 to 5 times. you might see an improvement. DO NOT FLUSH the transmission fluid.

Was fluid ever changed at 120k?
if not, dont be surprised if your tranny dies after changing fluid. Either will help or kill it faster. Good luck

Buy the updated filter which is made by Roki, OEM, and OEM oil or Valvoline WS. Do not flush it, do what I did a couple of years ago. Search for my thread.

changing the fluid in the pan does not cause any harm specially at 120k miles. but flushing the fluid does.

Yes. Remove the pan, clean everything up, replace the filter, put some oil in, start the engine and let the old oil drain through the cooler return line.

normally it does not, but since he has issues which maybe related to his fluid being caked up, adding new fluid could dislodge some old junk to clog something up. If the problem is bad, he might have no choice but to try changing the fluid, but it’s better get prepared for new transmission as it might be already screwed up. Was car operated in city traffic, maybe fluid is leaking?
