Hey guys. 2009 ES350, 95k miles. I was checking on a noise under the hood yesterday and found that the tabs on top of the radiator fan shroud that hold it to the back of the radiator have completely sheared off. I'm not sure when or how it happened, but it needs to be replaced. I'm a pretty handy guy, and it seems like the job shouldn't be too hard, right? Unplug all the connections, take out the entire assembly, swap over the fans and motors to the new shroud, and mount the new shroud fully assembled back in, right? I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything before I take on the job.
I called the dealer for a cost estimate, but my guess is that it will be north of $500, and the shroud itself only costs about $100. Thanks for any help.

You can do it buy yourself. Not hard at all. You need to remove the front heat shield that goes over the exhaust manifold.

The heat shield is between the engine and the radiator.

Maybe that fell off? I’m not seeing anything between the cooling fans and the engine. In fact, now that the cooling fan shroud has separated from the radiator, the cooling fan shroud is actually leaning back up against the engine.

Thanks. That does help. I’m still not seeing the exhaust manifold heat shield but it looks like the fan shroud literally disconnects from the back of the radiator and pulls straight up through the top of the engine bay.
