2007 ES350 Trunk will not open
The only way I can get my trunk to open is to remove the ground from my battery, This is only a temporary fix.
I can hear the trunk lock clicking when I use the key fob, but it will not open.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The valet trunk defeat button would eliminate any sound because it turns off the circuit.
Try pressing down on the trunk lid and then push the fob button. If the trunk were to
be closed down on an obstruction it may cause the lid to be putting upward pressure
on the latch mechanism. Doesn't take much to bind it up.

I had to replace the trunk lock mechanism to fix this issue. tried the cheap ones on amazon, ran thru 3 or 4 of them before one of them finally worked. if you go this route, dont put the plastic cover back on until you know you have it. that way you can open the rear seat trunk pass thru and use a stick to open the trunk by pushing on the latch

I plan to buy the cheap lock assy from Amazon. Did you buy from the same supplier each time you returned the parts that did not work? Do I need the lock assy with cable, or without? Thank you , Edgar

I kept buying from same supplier. at the time, there was only one. it comes with a small cable, but you can reuse the one on the car. just remember how the cable is on the original. take a photo. leave everything apart until you are certain its working. my problem was the trunk didn't want to shut easily. I had to slam it, until I had the right one. now it works like it used to. a light tap and the trunk is shut.
