What Robeconrad just described is a transmission fluid "flush" or fluid exchange machine.
They usually use clear tubes to monitor when new fluid is being removed from the transmission signalling when it has all been replaced.
They usually need to flush more through than the transmission capacity as it mixes with the old stuff before being removed.

This was told to me by a lead Lexus technician working on my car.

I used Lexus dealer that had two services, complete exchange using machine or partial.
did full exchange, the connect machine to transmission line and pump old fluid out while letting new one in. This is not a flush as it uses car pump to go through fluid. They also have service you can drain and fill whats in a pan.
most lexus dealers will not do it, most toyota will

I took my '09 to the dealer and they did an exchange . They have the special equipment that my regular mech did not. Even though the mileage was not that high, I felt it needed to be done.
