Default Lexus es350 aftermarket wheel and airbag help





I got the new wheel and airbag cover today and i installed the wheel but wasnt sure how to get the oem airbag cover off the airbag itself. Can anyone help with this i want to get my new leather airbag cover on asap.

Usually two covers on the sides of the wheel 9 and 3 O'clock torx bit underneath.

thanks for the reply, i meant when the airbag is off, how to seperate the cover with the logo on it from the airbag, so i can put a different airbag cover over the airbag

Oh. No don't do this you cannot alter the airbag in any way.

I don’t think you can take the skin off of the airbag. That’s what holds the airbag in place, and it’s going to be super compressed in there. If you were able to pry it off you would never be able to get it closed again, and if by the grace of god you did you’d never know if your airbag would deploy normally if you ever got into an accident.

good news is i did it
there were these 4 rivets holding in the airbag, i used a drill to break the rivets then the airbag came out i then put the cover on and installed new rivets,
you guys can tell me a lexus es is a luxury car the steering wheel doesnt go good but i think its perfect

edit**** also ignore the airbag light when i installed i didnt connect the clip in all the way lol so i fixed it the next day gave me no problems
