Greetings everyone, I have a 2007 ES350 LEXUS for the past couple of months I am having some problem with my TEMPERATURE GAUGE, I was driving for a hour my car engine was very hot.
My Temperature Gauge was normal in the middle, then all of a sudden the temperature hand / gauge drop from the middle to the cold end, the Temperature Gauge is not overheated.
My question is what is costing this problem with the Temperature Gauge.

Verify engine temperature before you do anything else, will need a scan tool for this. It could be a sensor/wiring problem or the engine might be getting too hot don't take a chance.

It could be in the gauge or its sensors, but also in the thermostat for the cooling system. The gauge itself could be working fine, but if the thermostat is opening or closing when it shouldn't be (in most newer vehicles, it should open when the coolant temperature is around 195-200 degrees) it will allow the coolant/anti-freeze to get too hot or too cold. This condition could be made worse if the electric cooling-fans for the radiator are also not sensing or operating properly....they provide additional cooling at high temperatures when the vehicle is stopped and at idle and/or the air-conditions compressor is on.

If you want to throw parts at the problem replace the EFI temperature sensor. I would check coolant level and look for any leaks especially from the radiator. It's unusual for a thermostat to fail and cause an overheat they most often fail in the open position so your engine never warms up.
