Idle to long get lean code and cylinder misfire and burning smell
Was idling again for about 10 minutes and I threw codes again (3rd time seems to only happen when I sit in car for a while ) no ac running sometimes on
and got check engine and check vsc. I also smelled a burning smell. Got a lean bank code and a misfire on cylinder 2. Total loss. Car seems perfect besides this. I’m thinking plugs and wires. Anyone ever have this issue with the smell. It only happens at idle and then I remove snd it seems fine. It was idling very choppy after it threw the code until I restarted and revved and drove it around. Car has 230k plugs were changed at some point previous owner I bought at 210

What vehicle do you have? What engine? Have you pulled the spark plug in cylinder 2 and inspected?…is it black, tan, white, etc?
What kind of burning smell…electrical, oil, unburnt gas, sweet bun smell, etc.?
I would start by inspecting cylinder 2 spark plug. And I would follow up with removing and checking all plugs in the engine. Check all your fluids and keep an eye out for rapid or noticeable reduction in any of them.
There are a lot of options of issues to the symptoms you’re having and I would start at ground zero. If you know cylinder two is kicking a code I would start there. 🤙🏻

Also…if you have no idea of when the previous owner had replaced the spark plugs then I personally would replace all of them. I’m sure your car would love you for it and it presents a good baseline to start diagnosis. It can only be a good thing to replace them and never a waste of money. 🤙🏻

After 9 months I doubt the OP will check back on this post although he has posted since then about many other problems with this vehicle.
