Another yellow headlight question
Scrolling through old posts I wound up more confused than when I started. All I want to do is change my yellow lights(headlight DRL, and fog lights)—-to white. i believe i have HID headlights because they “rise” as i start the car. What I am confused about is what I will need/lose.
if I change out DRL lights to LED, does that mean I lose my “brights”, and also need a relay or something? Plug and play?
I suppose that would be a deal breaker losing bright beams.
for the fog lamps: are they just plug and play? And do I just want 9006 LED 6k lights?
any list of components would be greatly appreciated. Looking for cheapest/reliable
thanks in advance, guess I just need to know what exactly I’m buying, and if technology has somehow erased the relay I would need or something. Fog lights are my main concern. I know this has been covered before, but it’s a lot of hopping around and I get lost. I’m hoping someone can make sense of this.
thanks clublexus

I'm going to assume (could be wrong) that the high beams are run in series in DRL mode this creates issues with almost all LED bulbs. There are modules that are supposed to get around this they are hit and miss from what I've read. To keep things simple why not replace your low beam HID bulbs with whatever HID bulb colour you want? Fogs will be easy to put in LEDs or difficult depending on how much room there is in the housings.
What year is your car? I use this site to look up bulb types for a particular car, don't generally like any of the products they sell.

I can't help you with a conversion to LED's but if you just want "white" light buy higher kelvin temperature bulbs. You can achieve this without switching to LEDs. If you have HID low beams you want D4S and for the high beams you want 9005.

I have a 2008. I just want all the lights to be one color ya know, pretty much matching the low beams i have now cause i like those, and with the path of least resistance. Okay so I found some LED 9005 plug and play halogen replacements on Amazon for $40 that will replace DRL and high beams. Easy peasy. So is it the same for fog lamps or are those 9006? Thanks for the help guys! Def cleared stuff up.

reflectors in your factory headlights are designed for the bulbs they specify. LED's are not designed for this as far as I know. you will get a whiter headlight, and also blind on coming drivers, who may be old and frail and think it is the pearly gates opening up and ram into you accidently
polish your lenses, and put fresh stock bulbs in. you'll be surprised how bright they can be if you just do this. much less $$ too.

Yeah I decided just to have dealership turn off the DRL lights, I thought I could get some that actually worked between high beam/DRL but that’s not the case. Pretty much purely cosmetic, no thanks. I still will upgrade fog lights to LED, but I’ll keep my eye out for a low lumen just in case so it doesn’t get too hot. Thanks for input guys.

I initially learned by trial and error now I know what to look for. Example this will be 3x brighter than halogen notice the LED placement
