2GR VVT oil line replacement cost?
Hi everyone,
I have a 08 ES350 with 72k miles that I bought 2 years ago, and I absolutely love it. For the people who had their VVT oil line replaced from the rubber to the metal line, how much did that cost to replace? I saw it was common to break and low/no oil pressure can and will destroy the 2gr quickly, so I want to get that replaced but I want to know what I'm working with cost wise. I plan on getting it replaced at Lexus too.

Welcome to CL and this is an easy repair that should not be done at the dealer. They will overcharge and then find a dozen other things they will try to scare you into repairing that will cost more than you paid for the car. That is how dealer service departments operate because they work on commission and the service dept. is the main profit center.
You can get it replaced with the metal line by any local import or Toyota specialist shop. It should be about an hour labor and the part costs under $50.
You can look up the dealer service history on your car at the Lexus Drivers Site I linked below. Join for free and enter your VIN. https://www.lexus.com/drivers/account/create-account

FYI do change your transmission fluid if it has not been done. It has really low miles for its age keep it running well!
A couple of drain and fills should take care of it. Ask a transmission shop or import specialist. Many dealers will tell you to never change it, they are wrong. Lexus only cares if the car gets through the warranty okay.

I have an 07 ES350, upgraded to the metal line also, mechanic charged me an hour so labour + parts ($50), note some may charge you a little bit more (1.25h) depending on how difficult it is to move the power steering pump out of the way first.
Would definitely get it done regardless as it's quite cheap and the recalls were usually done 10+ years ago, so even with the thicker recall hose there is still the chance of a leak.
