Question Faulty passenger window will not stay up

I have an 07 ES350 with close to 150K on it. The passenger side window has not worked for some time. If it came out of the track I could move it into place with one hand on each side of the window. I was told by the dealer that the whole inside mechanism had to be replaced for a fee of $1000.00. So here I am asking for your advise on how to proceed. All thoughts are welcome.

Never go to a dealer for this type of repair. If you are not one who does their own car repairs, then most independent car repair shops can do this for a lot less money.
This type of window failure is not uncommon as stated above and you could buy the parts listed in the link above then have an independent shop do the repair.
FYI the window motor related parts are about the same on all Toyota and Lexus vehicles.
If you do this be sure to print the linked post and PDF instructions to show the repair shop.
