Default ES 350 Air Conditioning Problems

Ladies and Gentlemen,

My Bride's 2013 ES Air Conditioning compressor won't engage. The System is in Auto, Fan set to high, and temperature to Low. But compressor pulley is not turning. The car is in ECO mode. But that should not make any difference. We have had it for nearly 2 years and have always had it in ECO mode.

Do we have any Lexus HVAC gurus out there that can assist?

That is a very good question. Our screen is different as we have navigation. I will check when my bride gets home. Thanks for the idea

It is a screen from a car with navigation. Use Menu -> Climate to get there.

I don't have a menu

There is no "Menu" with this screen

These are the control and it is not intuitive what to select
Any clues will be greatly appreciated.

If the switch is ON, I think I know what's wrong if it's still not engaging. Go in the Climate Menu to check 1st. Hopefully it's on Off.

Look at post 88 on this thread on the RX350 forum as it describes the cheap magnet trick to get the compressor to engage. This is a common problem across the entire Lexus/Toyota line. The RX uses the same engine etc as the ES.

Yep if its cut on you beat me to it.

You can also replace just that Sensor as the Dealer will not sell or do it. It actually can be tested by the Dealer for the Milliamp signal voltage. The sad thing is it not the Compressors, they are working fine when this happen, it's a $20 Flow Sensor on the compressor. I actually sent a letter to Lexus Corp and the SE Lexus Rep about this.

Also sold on Amazon, but it sounds like they are not easy to replace on the car due to tight working spaces.

It is a lot easier to stick a magnet on it. It is best approached from underneath.

Another trick is too disconnect the battery a while and let the voltage cut power, then reconnect. Often that gets the switch to cut on and work again for while.

Thank you for the instruction. So Very Sorry to be so dense. We bought the ES used and it didn't come with a Owner's Manual. I have since found a 1400+ Page pdf Owner's manual and a Navigation manual. This should help tremendously. Thank you again.
