2013 ES 350 Wheel Bearing
#17
My last car got flooded out at 257k
Got anotther one 2013 ES300h at 137k
Guess what I hear the front left wheel bearing noise at 140k.
Noise getting louder and going to replace it soon.
My mechanic has 2018 ES300h about 180k drives mostly highway he tells me now he is hearing the noise too.
Supposedly Toyo is the OEm and reputable, but i have used Timkin in the past.
This must be a known issue because latest gen (2019 +) they changed from 2 piece press bearing into hub, to newer 1 piece bolt on unit with bearing already pressed in, similar to rear hubs (2013+++)

Advanced
Do they sell loaded knuckles for 6th gen ES? They seems to be available for the 5th gen or for similar to 6th gen period Camrys and Avalons but I cannot find one for 6ES. Makes replacing a wheel bearing so much easier for DIYers.

I would go out on a limb and think they are the same from the Toyota Camry? But OEM knuckle are expensive. Then you still need the hub/spindle, assuming its not new and you reuse old one and cut off the partial bearing that always breaks at the neck upon removal.
Dealer has Lexus knuckles but not sure if bearings are in it.

Apparently it was a company car and based on the carfax entries, it was consistently driven about 1,000 miles a month year. There is a pulsating low frequency noise that increases with speed coming from the right front wheel well. The dealership has diagnosed this as a bad wheel bearing and is replacing it. I guess wheel bearings can go bad from sitting too long? Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Many things can cause it - unbalanced wheel, warped tire.. even a bent axle.
I still have yet to find my problem. I’ll let you know if I find it.
and BTW, I changed my front bearings to rid of this problem. The only change I felt was that the car rolled smoother with less friction but now it’s pretty much the same as before.
Same wobble sound and feel from front left tire.
I’ve been through several tires and wheel balances since and different wheels/rims also so it’s not that. I even changed my axle which might have been part of the problem since it improved. Anyway I gave up for now.

Knuckle, Hub, spindle, slightly off studs, lower control arm/ and or bushings, and or Lower ball joint. Inner and or outer tie rod ends, Rack and pinion bushings, sway bar bushings, sway bar end links, strut, top strut mount, axle flange nut, transmission mount 1 of the 2 engine mounts, torque arm mount, body to frame mounts, alignment. Thats all i can think of now, might be other stuff
