Default Smart Key Card?

Picked up a 2015 ES300H and it came with 1 key so I am looking to get a spare. Does anyone know if the credit card key works on the 6es? Or should I forget it and get another fob? Any details on either process would be appreciated. I would like to program a key myself, if possible.

It seems the 4gs card should work with 6es. I will be purchasing shortly. arkhi on TN cracked it but I have verified the Smart Key ECU model nos.

Thank you!

Did you program it yourself? Any issues doing so?

Years ago I have tried to program a wallet key from NX300h but it did not work on my '14 ES300h.

I am still puzzled why a wallet key was not an option on 6ES. Even CT200h had a wallet key - so price of the car is not an issue.

Just ordered a blank 89904-30L50 from Prestige Lexus of Ramsey for $230 shipped.

I did program myself. Only issue was the positioning of the card key against the push to start button. It didn’t work the first few tries so I double checked the battery voltage with a multi meter bc I have heard that can be an issue with these cards sitting for years. It read 3V so I tried again. You may need to fiddle with it and try a few times bc the software has a 30s timer to put the new key against the button.

I used my MacBook and VirtualBox to run the TS software. I found an OVA file with the OS and cable drivers pre loaded ready to go. That was from the iH8mud forum. Titled something like “5 minute TS”

it doesn’t come with the emergency key so that’s a separate order but I plan to buy that and get it cut by picture on eBay.

I don’t like the F logo on it but that’s a personal issue hahaha

edit: they did request my VIN to confirm compatibility but I explained I am trying to buy an unsupported product and waived my return policy.

Great! I have an old WinXP laptop to run Techstream - so hopefully everything will work fine. I used to program a spare key fob before.

You can buy a cut key directly from eBay - no need to buy & provide a blank. I used this vendor in the past and the shipped key worked as it should.

Great news! Finally received my 89904-30L50 key card today and programmed it right away. Had no issues programming at all - held a registered key to the start button then held the key card (after setting everything up in TechStream obviously). My car is 2014 ES300h (made in Japan).

The key arrived with pre-installed battery with 3.02V - I did not have to get a separate battery. When ordering from Prestige Lexus of Ramsey make a note on the checkout page that you definitely want this part number and they should not cross-check it to the VIN. My first order got cancelled because they thought I am ordering a wrong part.

The only thing left now is to order the emergency metal key insert.

So - I am finally free from carrying any keys. My home lock has a keypad and my workplace is using keycards for all the doors inside and outside.

I have removed mine - it is just a sticker. It was also making the card thicker by creating a small bump.

My cut key blade from eBay is coming tomorrow - I will let you know how it goes.

The $18 key insert from eBay came in and it tested fine both in the trunk and the door locks.

Also discovered another big sticker on the key and removed it. This sticker is a part of the "F" appearance package - other lexus wallet keys do not have it. The card thickness got reduced by 0.3mm (it is 3.3mm now).

This seems to take more room in my pocket than my fob does. Certainly won't fit in my wallet. What am I missing about the value of this key card?

What is wrong with your wallet? Fits in mine just fine:

My wallet is already full of stuff that is thicker than that and hurts to sit on it for long trips. Clearly this is a personal choice decision. I envy that you can make it work for you.

I quit putting my wallet in my back pocket years ago....it was creating havoc with my lower spine (sciatica). Also culled the number of "credit" and "points" cards that are less than useful. The main benefit I can see is that if the card is in your wallet you won't be forgetting your wallet at home! Purely as a matter of curiosity, does the mechanical key fit in that card somehow or do you have to carry it separately?

The mechanical key slides into the card. It is needed in case either the remote or the car battery dies.

Can anyone give a quick guide on how to program the key? Like what hardware I would need and the instructions to do it?

From what I understand, I'll need a device that is able to run Techstream, but will I need something like this too?
