Default Upgrading 2015 ES "Premium" Audio with aftermarket speakers

Upgrading the "Premium" audio speakers in the 2015 ES.

I will be replacing the side two dash 4 inch speakers with Pioneer TS-G400 (4 ohm)

Bought the Metra GM cable to modify to use the OEM connectors

Replacing the front door speakers to 6x9 Kenwood KFC-6966S (4 ohm)

Bought the Metra Toyota/Lexus connector to use the OEM connectors as well for the front door

This is an extreme budget build. I think spent right below 100 for everything.

I will be getting everything here soon, I hope I get some improvement because the audio is so bland with no definition!

Hows everyone improvement when they changed out the speakers to aftermarket on the Premium option'd system?

There are a few threads here with those that changed out the speakers. Also on the other Lexus model forums. All were very happy with the improvements. I changed out my 13 ES350 U/L with ML using Infinity Kappa in the dash and doors.

One thing I will advise you is this. The speakers you selected are 2 different types. The best sound you will get is with matched pairs that use the same exact like Tweeters. Both Door and dash. Using 2 different brand/type Tweeter not matching can possibly have the Tweeter canceling out some sound frequencies out playing. It's not a great big deal, but the best would be using all matched.

Following as I’m considering doing the same. There are a some good threads I’ve followed so far and have decided I’ll go with infinity references 4”/6x9”/6.5” throughout. I’ve used Kappas in the past on my SUV years ago but damn those things are pricy now! Would love to hear any tips/tricks you have or encounter during the process.

Just did the dash speakers. Took like 5 mins each side. Super easy.

Drive side Dash: I used only one screw. I didnt cut off the tabs so I forcefully placed the speaker in a way I lined up one of the screwholes in.
Passenger side dash: Able to get two screws in just fine with the speaker im using.

Sounds so much better with the 4 inch speakers.

Going to tackle the front door speakers in a few days when the 6x9 speakers come in.

Just installed the front door speakers.

Removing the door panel was straight forward. Theres a few videos for this process on youtube.

Reinstalling the door panel was a challenge! This took forever but once I get hang of it after looking at some videos on youtube, the second door was a breeze. Make sure to have your clips after the top and have the bottom portion of the door panel tilted to you and apply hard pressure on top to get the top portion secured into the door again. Once this is in, you can proceed on clipping the door panel back to the door.

Night and day difference from the OEM to Kenwood 6x9 speakers!
