Help!! Can anyone make suggestions on why and what can I do about the problem??
2016 Lexus ES300h, 65,000 mile service completed, why did my MPG go down from 35.6 to 34.4 after spending $1700 to have all services completed yesterday 7/31/2024?
Here is what was done;
1. Lube oil and filter and tire rotation
2. Air filters both engine and cabin replaced
3. Brake System Flush replace all brake fluid and inspect all brakes
4. Electronic fuel injection service and throttle body cleaning (performed 2 can fuel system flush on injectors
5. Drain Fill Transmission fluid world spec fluid Hybrid-Trans. Complete drain and fill set to proper level.
6. Performed complete cooling system fluid exchange
7. Perform 4 cylinder tune up with standard resistors plugs
8. Wheel alignment completed

Wait and re-measure. Average over two week period. Report back.

Ignoring your minor concern regarding an estimated mpg hit, you should follow your owner's manual for service going forward. Not what the stealership tells you you need.

Did you get those mileage numbers by reading directly off of the display? Or do you record fuel pumped and mileage numbers off the odometer? Most of the time there will be small differences due to the car’s attitude when being filled (up hill, down hill, tilted a bit sideways) or foaming of the pump nozzle that can affect the amount of fuel before the pump clicks off. The only way to know for certain is to record mileage and fuel pumped over several fillups. I’ve seen the same amount of discrepancy as you experienced just from those factors alone. Over time, however, those differences balance out so I wouldn’t be concerned over a single instance.

Seriously 1MPG could happen due to humidity change that day, the wind blowing, you ate too much for dinner that day, how many bugs you hit, you idled at a stop sign 3 minutes longer than normal, you stopped and talked to someone while the car was running... I think you see where I'm going with this.

The answer is, when you had the filters changed and more, along with so the fuel injection service and throttle body cleaning. That would have hiccupped the motor and had it running rough idle maybe even cutting off. If they did the way you said. Even if was running the ECU would adjusted the KCLV - (Knock Timing) down some Retarding it.

It likely may not feel as peppy and a bit slower than it did before also. At about 100 - 200 miles depending on how you drive it. The ECU will start to increase the Timing advance back up advanced again. Look up Lexus KCLV. A quick way to get the Timing (KCLV), back Advanced again is to run a tank of good 93 Octane like Shell 93 or Sunoco 93, and/or use a bottle of Octane Booster like Lucas.

I have been tracking my mileage using actual miles and actual gallons of gas. For my 2016 ES 300h, the actual has always been about 2 mpg less than car computed "Since last refuel" amount. I had the same experience with my 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid.

I think you missed the point. its not the miles per gallon. It's the fact that after doing the recommended maintenance you expect to see a possible improvement not the opposite. the mpg issue is what was visible.

What I should have asked is this normal after 60,000 recommended service is done??

Your sample size is too small need to average out for at least 1000 miles.
