2013 Lexus ES 350H & ES 350
Today I viewed the official Lexus 2013 car introduction schedule for all of the 2013 Lexus line.
In August 2012, the ES 350H and the ES 350 are going to be introduced which indicates to me that a hybrid will be part of the 2013 Lexus ES line. Does anyone have more information on these cars?

Yes - the redesigned ES350 and new ES300h will be introduced in August 2012. They are calling it "a new level of luxury, design and technology." Almost a "baby LS." It will be based on a larger platform than the current ES, so I'm assuming they're moving it to the Avalon platform.
It will feature a bolder stance, longer wheelbase, 18" wheels and exposed exhaust tips. From the couple of pictures I saw at a Lexus meeting last month, it looks like the 2013 GS front, with the current LS rear and almost a 5-series side view.
It will have the same interior lines as the 2013 GS, with an 8" Navi screen and same tech goodies (Bing, Pandora, iHeart, Opentable, etc along with SMS to speech capabilities.
Heres what they said about the ES300h:
- It will have the presence of an LS
- More legroom than an E-class
- Emissions of a Prius
- 25% better MPG than a Honda Fit (aiming for 40mpg combined)
- 0-60 in 8.1 sec
- First Lexus w/ PZEV rating
Production begins June 2012, pricing will be announced April 2012.
Wish I had pictures to show...

Let's hope that the ES's front will not be as 'bold' as the GS's. I always liked the 'subdued' front that Lexus has been known to have, now other auto companies are coming out with what Lexus once had, a subdued front!!

That said, I agree the new GS grille is a bit "bold", but given that every Asian car manufacturer seems stuck on having a "corporate grille shape (much like BMW has had for years)", I suppose the new ES grille will look pretty similar.
The article went on to say that Lexus will now have a single manager/CEO at the top. Lexus has been managed by committee since its inception in the 90s.
The revised goal/mission statement is for Lexus to build cars that are so good, that once you drive one, you won't want to drive anything else. Lofty goal, I hope they can achieve it!

An article I read in Autoweek recently about the changing focus at Lexus clearly stated that the "pinched-in-the-middle" grille, like the new GS has, will become the "Lexus corporate grille shape" for the forseeable future.

I'm sure the next generation ES will be nice but my guess is that it will be on the conservative side. When you think of previous generations of ES and the buyer demographics there isn't a need for a big wow factor. It will be contemporary but still conservative.
