derivative, predictable, and probably very pleasant overall. looks roomier than current one. and no surprise spotted in china, as that's lexus focus now (sensibly).
as an aside, spent some time as passenger in a pretty new avalon this past weekend - it's really a very pleasant place to ride in.

i like the overall proportion of the car, i think the side and rear flows well, and the rear roof line give it a more massive feel.
and the front, wow bold setup. i like the headlights
funny though, why cover the steering wheel and the wheel caps, when they forgot to cover the front and rear emblems

I don't like that weird hood line in the front though.

damn, I love this new ES
(buick and hyundai will have NO chance putting out an ES fighter-like they ever did though)
I might have to say it's a tad more aggressive than the non F sport GS (esp. the rear)

Looks so much like the current LS and gives off a luxo-vibe. Nice
To me, the GS looks a cut or two above this ES in terms of design and luxury, as it should. I don't think it's quite the "knockout" that I heard people describing, so I'm happy to see that. GS needs some breathing room and I think, at least judging from the pictures, that this will be a good start.
ES is more coupe-like, but much of the detailing in the GS is nicer and more upscale looking, IMO.

WOW, that is one of the most aggressive front ends on a Lexus sedan to come along in a while! Odd they slapped it on the ES of all cars. I wonder if that's going to alienate the grandma and grandpa followers?
A couple of observations... the dash is very much like the last two Audi A8's. Funny Lexus is still using the same shifter.
Overall, I love it! Lexus should stay ontop of sales with cars like this.
