Next-Gen Lexus ES (ES350 and ES300h confirmed)

I don't see the big fuss in this car. It's not going to take away sales from the GS. The ES has always sold more anyway, hasn't it? The people who buy Lexus' would know the difference between an ES and a GS. They don't look that much alike either. In fact I thought the GS next to it was an IS, I think it looks better and more sporty. But the wheels are too small on both cars. The front grille does have that CRZ type feel going on as well. If the hood just went down to the grille I think it'd look better.

If I was a driving enthusiast, I would get the GS350. If I wanted a smooth plushy ride, I would get an ES250.
Seems like the GS250 will be an endangered species : It will probably be more expensive than an ES250, have a more uncomfortable ride and have less front and rear room. And I doubt anyone looking at a 2.5L engine in a mid-size sedan is prioritising sportiness...

2.5 liter petrol engine it's pretty decent really.

yep... looking good lexus... spindle grille pretty much great refresh of 2012... not just for the all new cars, but it gave new dimension to the look of RX and LX so far as well.

Im just browsing other message boards and most people hate this car. I think its just a stigma that will forever be attached to this car calling it a camry. I know looks are subjective and at most this car is bland (which i think its not) i think its actually quite attractive. I feel like people who drive (mainly bmw's" just dog lexus in general. Never understood why people called cars ****ty online, its a simple matter of not liking it, then don't buy it
reviews have a lot to do with it too - european mags always put in mandatory line "interior not up to european competition standards", which is simply not true. For instance, CTh was often writen about as not up to A3 or 1 series, simply not true - same goes for IS vs A4, not true.
I was looking at A4's and A6's (3 year olds), and when I entered European IS, with semi-aniline leather, I was wowed.
So there is this stigma on the boards that has nothing to do with reality at all. it was always there and it probably will always be there, especially for those people who have never experienced lexus personally.

Looks fantastic so far (this new and upcoming ES). Btw, the rear has some kind of styling that you see in that upcoming Fusion/Mondeo from Ford. A really nice touch imho.
Oh and
The ES featured here surprisingly has better wheels than the GS F-sport with the stupid looking tuning fork wheels

I need to see the car in person, or at least some better pictures. To my eye the grill looks overdone as does the chrome strip thing on the trunk lid. I'm hoping some of the trim pieces will be a little different on the model sold in the U.S. Hard to tell about the dash but I'm guessing it will look well done in person.

lol, that's exactly what they're doing! that's a good move for branding.
