I continue to worry that this generation of GS will be the last.
?
Why? Lexus has FINALLY made the GS a DIRECT competitor in the midsize luxury/executive sedan segment, not just a niche player. I'm sure Lexus will soon expand the GS range, and I think the 4GS will be able to maintain solid sales over its life cycle.
To be a serious worldwide luxury brand, Lexus NEEDS the GS, and frankly I don't see it going anywhere. The new ES will be bigger, more comfy/less sport, and much less agile than the 4GS. The GS F will only further differentiate that. The ES and GS will have more differentiation between each other than we have seen in a very long time.
Also, while the new ES interior is a big step up, it will still be one class below the amazing GS interior. This will be a much more noticeable differentiation than the 5ES and 3GS, which had interiors that were fairly close in terms of quality.
I'll take a look at it at the NY Car Show next week some time.
I'm not a fan of the front design or interior.I'll see if seeing it in person changes that.
