besides, there will be GS300h for sure. At least in the rest of the world.

Even then, ES and GS are not the same cars.
Truth. It all comes down to what the buyer needs and wants their car to do.
As someone who spends most of my time driving up dangerous country roads i refuse to own RWD since the weather is so unpredictable here. RWD just doesn't make sense in a place where its wet/slick/snowy/icy/unpleasant 80% of the time. Plus i spend so much time stuck in traffic jams that i just want to be comfortable in my miserable drive home, but when i hit those country roads when they're dry, i love to toss my car through the curves and i'm glad Lexus has tried to inject a bit more driving pleasure into the ES.

hmm 1 cup holder in the front? This looks like an afterthought. this is where a column mounted shifter would come in handy

Anyone knows what the camera behind the rear-view mirror is for? Integrated dash cam?

Only thing I don't like a lot is the traditional shifter. As mentioned above it takes up valuable space that could have been used for more storage or another cup holder.

^^ well you got rain sensing wipers, and probably the large one in the center is for the lane departure warning system, and perhaps the third one is for auto highbeams

Difference between top notch design execution, and not so much:

The back of this car is just simply awsome. Proportioned, nicely trimmed and cut.

I was never a fan of the ES but this just kills the 4GS in Looks

Great job Lexus. I saw the Vossens on it but would be cool to some other nice wheels on it as well.

I think there is another cup holder right below the shifter

Kudos to Lexus for really nailing it with the design.

Adding a hybrid engine to the ES is what Lexus should have done from the beginning.
The HS was unnecessary.

I'm going to stick my head out and say they could have done better with the dash. It looks a bit busy, sharp-edged, chunky, and there are too many horizontal angles stacked ontop each other. None of these angles or shapes match, which prevents a central theme from forming. Also, the main wood strip doesn't fill the entire plain it sits on.
A little more flow, softeness, and simplicity would have better matched the slick new exterior. Still love the car though.

Absolutely well put as I could not have said any better. The interior look like like buttons from various areas put together for some coherence. To many sharp angles and unnecessary borders and lines.. The 4GS interior is better.
