I parked my es 300h and forgot to shut it off. It was running on battery so i didnt hear it running. I went back an hour later and car was on. There should be a shutoff feature that would shut car off after some amount of time. Have to get used to this hybrid. Lack on engine noise is hard to get used to.

No i didnt hear the beeps. Just didnt notice the beeps. Noisy area

Getting out of the car while it is still in drive because you thought it was off is the real killer.

Your not the first to do this.

The first time I saw this was in 2005 in a restaurant parking lot. The Prius engine started and ran for a few minutes then stopped. Nav display was lit. I went to the restaurant and found the owner.

Get into the habit of after leaving your car, lock the doors and listen for the short lock beep. It won't lock if left on.

You dont realize how dependant you become on hearing the engine sound until you own a hybrid and dont hear the engine running.

That is one thing I really liked about my HS250h, one push of the power button turned it off and put it in park.

No. Imagine what would happen if the battery in your key died while you were driving...and the car shut off...

Theres the fact that the gauges are still on, nav and all is still on...steering wheel didn't retract...the loud beeping...lots of cues that the vehicle is still on.
