HID bulbs for fog lights

Define your take on "brighter". LED's are "brighter" when up close to the output, yes. That doesn't mean that the output is greater. Light output is measured in lumens, a lumen is " a measure of the total "amount" of visible light emitted by a source. " Therefore the LEDs will not project as far or really make any performance difference in light output. If you are in your driveway looking at the car, the color temperature of the LED will look "brighter" yes, but effectively it is not practical to use them for actual driving needs. As Xenondepot stated you will need an uprated halogen fog bulb, or an HID kit. For effectiveness and using what fogs are supposed to be used for "fog"; not driving around with them on in clear conditions paired with your low beams, you would use a fog bulb with a lower color temperature, around 2700k which is yellowish. Yellow performs best in fog, and rain conditions compared to 3200-3500k color temperature which is the stock OEM HID bulb. This is why all manufacturers have halogen yellow fog bulbs. Ever seen a rally race? Big yellow lights on those cars are there for a reason. Recently manufacturers are implementing high powered LED's into the fog lights to increase the output and match the trend that consumers want in their lighting in today's market. In the end, to each their own.

I personally like to drive with brighter fog lights even though the yellow fogs may cut through the fog and haze better. But I don't want to drive with dimmer fogs then the oem. Maybe HID fogs may be my option unless I find brighter LEDs.

I won't be just the bulb, as was stated earlier in the thread. Will probably be priced close to the GS's LED fog's (~ $170/ea).

Can anyone with the HID kit on their fogs check to see if they are noticing any disfigurment in the chrome right above the bulb inside the fog housing.
Also check the lens cover. Mine seem to be plastic and have deformed a bit in shape.
Let me know. Thank You

HID bulbs do not burn significantly hotter than halogen bulbs, but certainly put out a lot of UV. I know that many vendors use low grade HID bulbs, that do not use anti-uv quartz glass to help protect the headlights. I would suggest changing out your HID kit (bulbs), before causing any further damage.

Yeah, $170 a piece for fog lights is outrageous..... I don't care if it comes with the housing, that is pricey! Maybe $170 for both as they are just small housings, not even projectors. Regardless I'd like to see some pictures of the LED's in action, or see them in person.
