This shouldn't bother you as the Avalon is the Toyota flagship and the ES being Lexus' entry level model. A fully loaded Avalon Limited is priced where a moderately priced ES would start. Softex is Toyota's version of NuLuxe. True all Avalon grades come with leather but again it's preference in what you're exactly looking for and what your budget is. For reference, the Avalon's warranty is 3yr/36k basic and 5yr/60k powertrain and 2 years free Toyota Care maintenance. Lexus on the other hand offers 4yr/50k basic 6yr/70k powertrain, first 2 scheduled service visits are free, but you do get the option of driving a Lexus loaner and the other Lexus dealer amenities Toyota doesn't offer. The Avalon is a lot more engaging to drive than the ES. It's about what you value.

The Avalon is closer to the LS and the ES is closer to the Camry.

But, my experience in general, and my observations is that the leather used by most Japanese automakers does not hold up well. It seems that it is cut a bit too thin.
Compare it to the leather on a Cadillac , or a Jaguar, and you will see what I mean,

Honda and Acura leather is the worst.

Not sure what you are comparing with your numbers since you didn't identify the vehicles. As to the platform sharing between Toyota and Lexus, that is a well known fact. What is your point. I question whether the IS truly is based on the Corolla since one is rear wheel drive and the other is front wheel drive - however it is certainly possible that the interior volume is similar. However, there is no Toyota platform equivalent to the LS so your previous comparison is not valid. I think you have these vehicles confused.

Search this forum for

“Is this real leather or NuLuxe?”

further information in that thread.

If your ES is a 2013, you don't need pictures to tell if it is NuLuxe. For the 2013 model year, if the seats are not perforated, it is NuLuxe. If the seats are perforated, it is either the standard leather that came with the Luxury Package or the semi-aniline leather that came with the Ultra Luxury Package. (Later in the Generation 6 model run, NuLuxe seats were perforated, too.)

The Toyota and Lexus models that share a high amount of their build are LX/Land Cruiser, GX/4Runner, ES/Avalon, NX/Rav4, UX/C-HR,and RX/Highlander. Beyond those, none of your comparisons make any sense at all.

Note that, of the 6 Lexus and Toyota models that share components, 5 of them are SUVs. The only sedan model comparison that makes any sense is the ES/Avalon comparison.

The Avalon is not related to the LS, Avalon is a FWD transverse engine car the LS is a RWD longitudinal engine car. The Avalon and ES are essentially the same car, and the ES would tilt more similar to the LS than the Avalon since both are Lexus models, have similar layout, similar infotainment, etc.

To be clear the LS is not related to the Avalon.

Also, the IS has nothing to do with the Corolla..totally different platforms, again the Corolla is a FWD car, IS is a RWD car.

You should do some research into Lexus vehicles before posting.

Default Cleaning Nuluxe

I have a 2017 NX 200t with Nuluxe and have had it for 5 months but have used the Lexol cleaning wipes and they have worked well. NuLuxe isn’t going to hold odor like real leather and as long as you don’t beat your seats down daily you will be fine. It’s comfortable and feels good to sit in. I have heated seats and it has not bothered the material at all. My interior is black so I won’t have any visible color transfer. I would suggest trying that. It definitely makes your car smell good and fresh. Nuluxe is very forgiving sometimes leather is not. Personally I like it.

I have owned my beige Nuluxe equipped 2013 ES350 for 7.5 years, It is perfect, easy to clean, no wear spots, no cracking at the seams, etc. I cannot say the same for:
my 2015 RX350
my 2000 RX300
my Honda Accord
any of my Jaguars,
Nor my BMW;
nor my Cadillacs

This is weird wild stuff. I have a 2015 ES 350 with about mid-level options and I am NOT impressed with the seats. They are more sport car style than luxury as far as padding and warmth. And are also susceptible to discoloration from your own clothing. But, that's my preference and about the only compliant I have about the car. Leather can be hot in the summer and ice cold in the winter. No wonder this car comes with heated/cooled seats? I always protect my seats with a cover, anyway. As far as cleaning, I saw where Woolite mixed with water is super gentile, but effective and cheap. Look for that on YouTube and judge for yourself. And as far as leather vs. cloth, unless the leather has a texture of pudding, I'll take an early 70s Caddy or Lincoln, etc. cloth, over-padded, grandparents-looking seat any day of the week.
