I just noticed that on the Canadian web site the Electrochromic Rear View Mirror with Digital Compass is regular feature. Check there web site, and I have below the link of the feature sheet. Why is this not in the USA???

Beginning with the previous gen ES, 2011 model year cars with navigation didn't have the in-mirror compass. Cars without nav got the compass. Prior to 2011 all cars had it.

Maybe it's the same with the new gen. Not sure though.

This was just a cool feature to have on the mirror, I used all the time in my GS, instead of having the map screen on.

I have the Can Car with the tech pkg(fully optioned in Canada) There is No Digital Compass in mirror, its in Nav System same as US vehicles (my car was purchased in Nov. unless they recently changed this but i think not) Also don<t know why my post is saying MI when it should be Ont

I have a Canadian car, and I do not have a compass on my Mirror as well, and I just notice the link above it is a standard feature. Huh.... My Acura had that feature I actually got use to it. I will have to contact Lexus to find out why it is not in the 300h as advertised on their web site, I believe Under OMVIC rules in Canada it is illegal to put false claims.

Do you have a NAV system?

If you do, generally the standard feature gets deleted by the optional feature.

Again - Since 2010 all Lexus models equipped with navigation do not have the compass in the mirror. That is because there is a compass located in the navigation unit. This has been discussed in various threads. Here are two:

There still is a mirror compass in non-navigation equipped Lexus models.

That is weird you need to have your GPS on, just to have access to a compass......What is Lexus thinking...... Is it that expense to have a compass on the mirror. The last two vehicles I own, had GPS and Nav.......

That was my thought when they first made this change. FWIW I have an Audi now with nav and it has the compass in the mirror too. I used this feature a lot with two Lexus and would miss it if it weren't there.

I used to have a similar compass in my company car. Of course not as sophisticated though. I believe it had a suction cup window/dash mount. That pic is a great find.
