Mike, To clarify it would not cost as much as you indicated to have a heated steering wheel, and yes i paid extra to have a heated steering wheel and other options.and if Lexus wants to play with other manufactures that offer a heated steering wheel., like Buick a lower cost vehicle than the ES that is the market Lexus is going after. To the point that if I would pay more for the heated steering wheel if that is something I wanted then yes. For example I am looking to purchase better rims and tires for my 300h maybe 19" that is my choice anyone else that chooses to purchases extras, wether it is 1 dollar or 10,000 dollar each their own. Same as you wanting a digital clock, i like the one that is their but that is something you like and if it was an option you maybe would pay for it, what happen if half was digital and the other not would you complain? would you like people to chuckle at you???? aAs for misleading that is marketing and Lexus has done well to get the customer in the door. putting misleading out of the picture, If lexus wanted to cut cost don't offer something you half *** at that is what I am saying. Example no sunglasse holder really...that expensive my wifes economy car that cost half of mine has one... Read consumers report even they say Lexus cheap out on the 2013 ES. I do not trust J.D. Power and would never base on them, they are paid by the car companies their is no 3rd party to see how they do things.

I don't think $350 is going to keep someone out of a $45,000 car? No.

Nor do I think $350 is going to keep someone out of a $55-60,000 GS either.

You speak as if its an economy car, its hardly. Somehow other manufacturers can offer a fully heated wheel at these price points.

My example was more of a "where does it end?" scenario.

It ends when you have a product that offers at least what its competitors offer, and what the customer expects. I don't think anybody expects the wheel to be only half heated...hence this reaction.

I doubt that we'll see any changes/improvements in quality or content until the mid-cycle refresh when sales level off or decline and something needs to be done. This is normally after 3 model years.

The only scenario where things might be done sooner is if sales decline sooner than expected and quick action is needed. Only time will tell in this area.

Camry has announced an early upgrade in interior materials, but sales have dropped off so something like that could happen to the ES if the market conditions dictate it.

By then, you have an LS. This in an ENTRY LEVEL "luxury" vehicle. The competition you keep referring to didn't cut it for me. I was in them all. Yes, some had 100% heating of their steering wheel. As hard as this may be for some to comprehend, that wasn't really what I cared about.

The issue with the heated steering wheel is not just with the "entry level" vehicle, its the same on the GS as well.

Is there a thread about it over there, too? Seems pretty high on peoples lists of gripes.

Absolutely there is.

Its high on people's lists of sour grapes because its just crappy, and its something that someone immediately notices when they use it the first time and leaves a strong impression. Stupid, stupid idea to do it that way. Better to not have one at all. Its less about the feature itself and more about how its just done poorly.

Our $40K plus 2011 Buick LaCrosse has the same leather heated areas as the ES. None of the wood areas are heated.

Best to do your homework before citing other manufacturers' features.

Does Buick only have it at the 3 and 9 o'clock or is it the majority of the steering wheel? Yes did my home work the last couple of week, check out BMW, as well Audi, Mercedes, I am glad you have no issues with your Lexus and feel you got your dollar worth maybe this thread is not for you. For the rest us we would like to see some improvements. Wait can't find my sunglasse holder....LOL entry luxury that could not provide a sunglass holder now that is funny..

Even funnier, is the fact that you still got one after knowing all this ahead of time. Have you checked out the RLX?

I got the 300h, for fuel economy and luxury and our company is experimenting. Did not checked the RLX different class. I want to keep my hand warm you want a digital clock so why did you get the ES for? So let me laugh heated steering wheel vs digital clock which one would people want in a colder climate like NY......Hmmmmmm we can't be totally satisfied their is a thread as a poll of thing we would like corrected or improved in the ES....I guess we see vehicles in the same class with more and would like them too.

Illinois is not the tropical paradise you make it out to be.

Oh, and I like my analog clock.
