LESZ, how many miles/years do you have on the vehicles?

6 cars over 15 years is only 2.5 years per car..... or its more the family 'fleet'

I've always had two (or 3) cars simultaneously. Of those vehicles, the most miles I had on any was about 150,000 on a Toyota Tacoma. The least was about 60,000 miles on a 4 Runner. Even though, the 4 Runner was a great vehicle, I only kept it for about 3 years. I had the Tacoma for about 7 years, and the Lexus GX that I still own is going on 9 years.

Default 13 Avalon vs ES

I've also driven both the Limited and ES, and find the ES a bit more comfortable, quiet and smooth. Yes the Toyota will have more features for the same $$. Matter of balance and choice.

I drove both the Limited and ES, as well, and also found the Lexus more comfortable, smoother and luxurious than the Toyota and surprisingly less expensive to lease.

If the ES had the body of the avalon but the badging/craftmanship/quality as lexus it would have sold even more IMO

which seems to be the overall point of the OP obviously so i would have to agree a more "LEXUS" avalon would have been a great ES

I would have bought outside of Lexus if the '13 ES Looked like the Avalon. The front end is too polarizing and the side silhouette of the greenhouse creates a station wagon shape... also note that the rear C-pillar window broken up and not part of the door (something Lexus has never done in any of its sedans).

While I think the $5K difference was worth getting the Lexus, with the addition of so many technical systems to cars today, the probability of something going wrong is tremendously increased. Was very disappointed that a Lexus would not be fully operational without a system breakdown for many years/miles.
My sister has a 2010 IS250 and has had five warranty repairs, all interior trim related and one was exterior. My former LX had two issues and my current CT has had zero defects. Issues can happen to either Toyota or Lexus.

No manufacturer wants to use the dreaded word "wagon" these days. They come up with creative ways to avoid using it. But it's a wagon.

In their Road Tests Consumer Reports rates the ES and Avalon pretty close. I've always thought that it's just a matter of personal choice between the two.

ES300h (82)
ES350 (80)

Avalon Hybrid (86)
Avalon V6 (85).

i went with the lexus mainly because it is assembled in japan. i realize many cars are assembled outside of the company's country of origin, but this is something that is important to me. also, and i have no way of proving this at the moment, but i believe that the luxury trims use a better grade of materials/components i.e. better paint job, leather, trim pieces, buttons, etc. all the little stuff that matters to the luxury buyer.

look at the avalon's front fascia - it looks really cheap compared to the louvers on the ES. ditto for the interior.
