$25,000 Chevy Impala Rides Better Than The ES
According to Consumer Reports:
http://news.yahoo.com/impala-tops-se...102156094.html
"The car rides better than a Lexus ES. It's quieter than many luxury cars."
10-20 years ago, who would have guessed that inexpensive American sedans would eventually BEAT Lexus in ride comfort and quietness?

I sat in one at the NY Car Show.
The Impala is nice but the interior dash and console looked a bit cheap and the faux wood is awful.
However, after it's out awhile you will probably be able to get a loaded Impala for under $35K.
That's a lot of car for the money.

Even the A6 and 460L compare to it:
"The Impala, he said, is competitive with cars that cost $20,000 more such as the Audi A6 and Lexus LS460L."
Can't leave out the Germans:
"It accelerates and brakes better than, say a Volkswagen GTI."
I need to dump my POS ES soon and pick one of these babies up while they last!
Seriously, is it April 1st?

CR hasn't been too keen on the new gen ES350 and the reviews of the Impala have generally been favorable. As usual though, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
In any case, I'm guessing that Lexus will be making some updates and improvements quicker than in the past. The completion is good for consumers.

C'mon now. What would you rather reply when asked what car do you drive? A Chevrolet or a Lexus?

I seem to recall that CR also stated that a Honda Accord got 46 mpg (non-hybrid). Really?? The last time I checked on KBB, they said the Accord was rated at 27/36 mpg for the i-4. Hum, let me check my speedometer and mpg on my ES300h. Yep, even driving at 60 mph, I'm still only getting about 38-39 mpg which is almost what it's rated at.

Almost the enter automotive test review community is united in stating that the ES and Avalon are no longer class leaders in ride comfort and quietness like the 2012 and earlier versions of those cars were.

Other than the reliability rating from real owners, I take CR's subjective review with a grain of salt.

If you went out in a 97 Ford Crown Vic and a 97 ES I would say the Crown Vic would ride a lot better.
The new Impala is a great looking car. We were at the beach last week and there was one parked next to the Jeep in the hotel parking lot and I was checking it out. Way more interesting than a Camry...would I buy one over an ES? Probably not because I'm a snob.
