If you get service at a Toyota dealer, or other location besides Lexus, will they reset the maintenance reminder on the dashboard?

I'm guessing that they would, but it is very simple to do it yourself, and it only takes about 15 seconds to do so.

Yes, nearly any kind of shop can/will reset the reminder. When I had my 2010 ES there were instructions in the owners manual for resetting it. As lesz said, it is easy to do.

Unrelated, but on an older car, I have a Check Engine light on. I know this is often a minor problem or easy fix. Will any of the major auto parts stores hook up a code reader for free to diagnose the problem?

Have you noticed anything wrong with the engine?

If not, unscrew the fuel cap and then screw it back on. Sometimes pressure in the gas tank causes the engine light to go on when there is nothing wrong with the engine.

I had an older car do this as well, and the fuel cap trick did not resolve the problem. After a lot of testing, the Audi dealership found there was a pin hole in tubing of part of the anti-pollution system.

AutoZone will do it for free. You can also buy the Scangauge and do it yourself.

Here's a surprise: I thought that getting the oil changed at a Toyota dealer for my 350 would be cheaper than taking it to Lexus. Today I found that the Lexus dealer gets $69.95 for a synthetic change w/filter and the Toyota dealer gets $79.95. Pays to check these things...

Hi there,
I am NEW to clublexus and so happy to find a place where I can ask questions. I own a 2013 Lexus ES 300H. The dealer gave me the 5000k and 10,000 oil change for free. The next one at 20,000 I will being paying for.
I got a Maintenance Required message, brought it in and it is for the every 5000 mile tire rotation, adjust tire pressure, inspection of all fluids, brake lines, hoses. The cost for this service is $140 at The Tustin Lexus in Orange County. Should I do this now or just wait for my 20,000 oil change which this should service should be included. Thank you in advance for some good advice. Jennifer

Jennifer, welcome to Club Lexus. The tires should be rotated every 5,000 miles to assure even tread life. Of course the cost to have the dealer do it is extreme. However, they do look it over to find any issues that may have cropped up. It is a personal decision as to who you have do your service, I for one want to protect my investment and will take it to my dealer for my 15,000 mile service. Again this is my opinion, I am sure others here will have a different opinion.

Go to any Discount Tire....they will rotate the tires, some times for free or a min. $19. Fluid level check, free. Your dealership is taking advance of you.

The 10k mile oil change I'm okay with doing at the dealer for now -until the car runs out of warranty.

But doing the 5k service at the dealership is a pure waste of money. All they do is rotate the tires and that can be done anywhere!

AircraftX, I'm with you on that too, but if you skip the 15K service, or do the tire rotation yourself, does that affect the warranty? Just wondering what others think or do.
