2013 ES 350 seat/upholstery issue
#107
I am the one who made the original post on this issue. My 2013 ES350 had the depressions in the drivers seat and to a lesser extent in the passengers seat. I traded in my 2007 ES350 which had the same package as the 2013 - I think its called the Premium or Premium Plus just below the Ultra Luxury package. The point being the seats in the 2007 which had just over 70,000 miles looked almost perfect with no indentations showing at all at the time of trade.
Initially, I was turned down by the dealership so I filed an appeal to Lexus Customer Care. While waiting for an answer, I took my ES to a well known, long time upholstery shop in Dallas. The owner looked at my seats and, if i remember correctly, said that the problem was caused by the seat foam being too soft. He said that it could be fixed by installing what he referred to as a "foam stiffener". He also said that the best leather treatment to use was "Lexol". He further said that the wear shown on my seats was "pre-mature".
Lexus finally agreed to replace the driver seat upholstery but not the passenger seat. I was told that the upholstery is covered by warranty up to 48,000 miles and is not covered by any extended warranty.
At this point I am watching the passenger seat for additional wear. If it gets worse I'll try Lexus again. If the driver's seat does it again. I will probably take it to that upholstery shop and get them to repair the seats.
