Maintenance light

Maintenance light
Hey guys... right now my car is approaching 4K miles.. but in a couple of weeks my wife will be taking a long trip that will easily put her over the 5K mile mark, and If I was told correctly, that means the "maintenance" light will come on.... is there a way I can reset that before she leaves, or at least a way I can tell her how to reset it when it comes on while she's out of town.. Kinda silly to have the maintenance light come on every 5K when they suggest 10K oil changes. Thanks guys, I appreciate any info you have..

With power to the vehicle turned on, change the odometer to "trip A".
Turn off power to the vehicle.
With your foot off of the brake (so that the engine does not start), press and hold the (trip) odometer re-set button while pressing the start button to turn power to the vehicle back on. Again, do not start the engine.
You should see the odometer reading flashing a sequence of dashes. When the flashing stops, the maintenance remainder will have been re-set, and it will come back on again in 5000 miles.
If my explanation is not as clear as it could be, the instructions are in the manual in the maintenance section.

Thanks Lesz for that step by step procedure. You saved me some time in looking for that since I'll be using it for my 15,000 miles coming up.
I don't plan to bring it in to the dealer but will check all fluids, and maybe skip the tire rotation altogether. That'll save me probably $150 for this mid-non service check.
